Challenges We Face

The Realities of Supporting Vulnerable Children

Despite our commitment to providing exceptional care, Total Rehab Centre faces several significant challenges that threaten the continuity and quality of our services. These difficulties range from basic operational costs to critical medical and therapeutic supply shortages.

The following are some of the most pressing challenges we currently face in our efforts to provide quality care:

food supplies

One of our biggest challenges is securing food supplies. Rising food prices and inflation have made it increasingly difficult to provide three nutritious meals a day for our children. Many of the children under our care require special diets, further increasing food-related expenses.

Therapy equipment

Therapy equipment is either outdated, insufficient, or entirely unavailable. Therapy is crucial for the development of children with physical and cognitive disabilities, and the lack of proper tools hinders their progress.

medical expenses

We also face challenges in medical expenses, particularly because many of the children have recurring illnesses or complex medical needs. These costs quickly add up and place a heavy financial burden on our organization.

Staffing shortages

Staffing shortages are another significant concern. There’s a national shortage of professionals trained to handle special needs education and therapy. Recruiting and retaining skilled occupational therapists, caregivers, and nurses is not only difficult—it’s expensive.

Rent and expansion

Rent and expansion costs are another hurdle. The cost of maintaining a secure, clean, and accessible environment is high. We face difficulties paying rent, hiring qualified staff, and upgrading facilities to meet the evolving needs of the children. Lack of space and inadequate infrastructure directly impact the children’s comfort and growth.

bedding and educational material shortages

We also struggle with bedding and educational material shortages. Basic items like bedsheets, learning aids, and play materials are either donated irregularly or completely lacking, affecting the children's daily experience.

hygiene supplies

Lastly, hygiene supplies, especially diapers, are expensive and essential. Without them, it becomes difficult to maintain the health, dignity, and comfort of our children.

We are determined to overcome these challenges, but we need your support. Every donation, every volunteer hour, and every act of kindness moves us one step closer to a brighter, more inclusive future.
